First Organisations in Lancashire Awarded Trauma Quality Mark

Seven organisations from across Lancashire have been awarded the Working with Trauma Quality Mark.

The Lancashire Violence Reduction Network (VRN) has been working with these organisations, and others, to help Lancashire culturally adopt trauma informed practices.

Awarded by ‘One Small Thing’, the Working with Trauma Quality Mark provides a robust set of national standards to recognise and celebrate good practice in trauma informed work.

One Small Thing’s Quality Mark team have assessed each of the organisations processes, policies and environments. The assessment looked at areas including leadership, workforce development, environment, and person-centred approaches.

Seven organisations received the award as part of a celebration event held in Preston on 16th November 2023. These organisations include:

  • Applebee Wood Community Specialist School
  • Red Rose Recovery
  • Lathom High School
  • Children and Family Wellbeing Service (Lancashire County Council)
  • The Birchall Trust
  • LSCFT – Reconnect
  • Active Lancashire

Justin Srivastava, Trauma Informed Lead  for Lancashire VRN said“It has been a privilege to be working with like-minded professionals to bring about this culture change in Lancashire. I’m incredibly proud of not only the organisations here today, but also the organisations currently on their journey towards this quality mark. Adapting a trauma informed approach to your work is an ever-evolving process and the VRN are proud to be here to support such an important change in behaviours.”

Head of Quality, Training and Networks from One Small Thing, Esther Thompson added“It was fantastic to come together in Preston to celebrate the success of Lancashire organisations achieving the Working with Trauma Quality Mark and their commitment to trauma informed work.”

“The Quality Mark supports organisations to be trauma informed in everything they do – from the way the greets people at the door to having a well-supported staff team who’s wellbeing is paramount, to a whole organisation understanding how trauma can impact upon people and shaping the service that takes this into account.”
