Lancashire Violence Reduction Network (LVRN) in discussion with the Community Safety Partnership in Preston, has identified two areas in Preston, the Holme Slack and Avenham localities, where it was felt that running “community conversations” would be helpful in supporting existing engagement work with the communities.
The Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) “community conversation” model is a 2-hour session where as many as possible local organisations and community members can attend with the aim of celebrating the good work that is already happening, identifying gaps and exploring opportunities for local people to work together to address the issues raised.
Two weeks after the Conversation a report is produced to summarise the findings and then help is provided to set up a Community Action Group, or to link in with an existing community group.
